Iberia fast becoming Europe’s green hydrogen hub

Developers, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), Madoqua Renewables and Power2X, are to build a €1bn, 500MW green hydrogen facility at the Portuguese port of Sines by 2025. The facility is expected to produce 50kT of green hydrogen and 500kT of green ammonia annually. This is the second large-scale green hydrogen project announced in Iberia by CIP.

Portugal and Spain are positioned to be able to produce green hydrogen more cheaply than other parts of Europe due to their high solar irradiation and relatively strong winds.
