Nokia has joined RE100 – a global consortium of 340 businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity. The announcement follows Nokia’s earlier target to reduce emissions from its own operations by switching to 100% renewable electricity by 2025.
Nokia has focused on increasing its share of renewable electricity for several years. Usage across its business increased to 45% in 2021 (from 39% in 2020). In line with the Science Based Targets initiative’s (SBTi) temperature target of 1.5°C, Nokia has also committed to reduce its emissions by 50% across its value chain by 2030. This is set to include its operations, products, logistics and final assembly supplier factories. For more than ten years, Nokia has reported its emissions to the global environmental disclosure system, CDP. It has worked with the organisation to track its supply chain emissions and climate targets.
