Germany Accelerates Transition to 100% Renewable Electricity by 2035

Germany has intensified its commitment to meet its entire electricity demand through renewable sources by 2035, surpassing its previous target of phasing out fossil fuels "well before 2040." As part of this ambitious goal, the aim is to achieve a renewable energy share of 80% from wind and solar power by 2030. This transition would entail doubling the current onshore wind capacity and increasing the solar capacity by over threefold.

By accelerating the adoption of renewable energy sources, Germany aims to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and make significant progress in combating climate change. The increased targets for wind and solar energy highlight the country's determination to shift towards cleaner and more sustainable electricity generation methods.

Germany's accelerated timeline and ambitious renewable energy goals demonstrate its strong commitment to leading the global energy transition and setting a precedent for other nations to follow suit.
