A new UK energy bill has been suggested in the Queen’s speech. The Bill aims to help the UK build a more secure, homegrown energy system.
There are ten main elements of the Bill including; supporting industry to step up investment in growing the consumer market for heat pumps, extending the energy price cap to prevent suppliers from overcharging consumers, and encouraging investment and innovation in Britain’s onshore electricity networks. The Bill also looks to create a pro-innovation regulatory environment for nuclear fusion energy as well as build business models for CCUS transport and storage, as well as low carbon hydrogen and industrial carbon capture.
