Minister announces regulated carbon market in Brazil.

Minister of the Environment, Joaquim Leite, has announced the creation of a regulated carbon market in Brazil. Leite claims the country will be the largest seller of carbon credits globally. He added that Brazil would add differentiation through the quality of credits with positive social impact and the multiplicity of sources of credit generation.

According to projections made by WayCarbon and the International Chamber of Commerce Brazil, this statement is well supported and the potential for Brazilian carbon credits is vast. They estimate that the country could generate R$100bn (c.US$20m) in revenues in carbon credits by 2030.
