ABB Announces Three New Initiatives to Drive Sustainability and Climate Action

ABB, a global technology company, has unveiled three new initiatives aimed at advancing sustainability and climate action:

Electrifying Fleet: ABB plans to electrify its fleet of over 10,000 vehicles. The company has already commenced the transition in Sweden, with 700 vehicles already electrified, and aims to transition its 500 UK vehicles by 2025.

RE100 Commitment: ABB has committed to sourcing 100% renewable electricity by 2030 through its participation in the RE100 initiative. In 2020, 32% of ABB's total electricity was obtained from certified green sources or generated by the company's own solar power plants. ABB Switzerland has already achieved 100% renewable electricity sourcing.

EP100 Engagement: ABB will establish energy efficiency targets and continue deploying energy management systems across its sites. Currently, more than 100 ABB sites are equipped with such systems to drive energy efficiency improvements.

ABB's reduction targets have received approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), validating their alignment with the goals of the Paris Agreement. Additionally, ABB has joined the Business Ambition for 1.5°C Campaign, a global coalition of UN agencies, business leaders, and industry representatives, led by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).

With these initiatives, ABB demonstrates its commitment to sustainability, renewable energy adoption, energy efficiency, and climate mitigation. By taking concrete actions and participating in global initiatives, ABB aims to play a pivotal role in advancing the transition to a low-carbon and sustainable future.
